That's not necessarily something a wise decision... you really do NOT know what is ailing you and the sore throat may only be a symptom that is common to several health issues. I recommend that you see a doctor, OK?

Now, what you CAN do is boil some water and let it cool down; dilute some Peroxide Water into it and gargle with it; use the ratio of about 2 cups of water to one cup of Peroxide, or 1 cup of water to 1/2 of Peroxide. Do not go outdoors after you gargle with warm water. Repeat 2 or 3 times daily. It tastes nasty but you are going to surprise yourself!

Alternatively, you can gargle with salt, lukewarm water (boil the water first and let it cool down to where you can tolerate it) and you can use 8 ounces of water (1 glass) with a tablespoon of salt, stir it until the salt dissolves. Repeat 2 or 3 times daily. It works!

Get some throat lozenges, and also get some TheraFlu and use as directed; it's really good, and it works.

Go see a doctor. Don't take chances! Best wishes.

Gargle with warm salt water. Buy some sore throat lozenges. However, if it gets very severe and lasts a few more days, you will have to go to the doctor to rule out strep throat, which is very dangerous if not treated with antibiotics fairly soon.

i have two methods:
1) gargle with warm salt water (as mentioned before) for at least 1 minute, which helps to reduce bacteria who don't like a salty environment
Notes:
- do this at least twice a day, preferable before & after meals
- then rinse with water to get rid of the taste
- make sure you brush teeth & floss to reduce bacteria, too

2) hot lemon: this is a more acid environment and quite soothing, plus it ups your vitamin C
(although you should eat fresh fruit to boost vit C & help your immune system BEFORE you get a cold!)

finally, give yourself some general TLC to boost your immune system - e.g. plenty of sleep & positive thinking etc.

if this doesn't help in a day or two, go see a doctor!

get well soon!

I have tried "Listerine Antiseptic" before and it numbs the throat ,at least for a little while anyway. Don't drink anything until the numbness wears off though because you will wash it off your throat.

Hot water, stir in 2 tablespoons honey ,add lemon slices...or suck on cough drops, or both.
Also my gram used to make me gargle with warm salt water...that works pretty good.

i've always voted for natural methods. the best way for me is by taking a glass of warm or hot ginger brew thrice a day. naturally grounded ginger is perfect. instant ginger brew will suffice, just add 2-3 teaspoons of powdered instant ginger brew on hot water.

i also recommend you gargle with bactidol or any anti-bacterial mouthwash twice a day or as recommended by your physician.
