Honda CR-V

What is it? The CR-V gets a redesign for 2007, with more aerodynamic looks and a 10-hp boost to 166 hp. A new liftgate replaces the side-opening back door, and the spare tire moves from the tailgate to under the load floor. Curtain air bags are standard.
CR's take. The CR-V has consistently been one of our higher-rated small SUVs and has shown excellent reliability over the years, according to our subscriber surveys. The current one got a respectable 21 mpg overall in our fuel-economy tests. The swoopy rear roofline of the new CR-V is a common design in other models, but we've found that it can hinder rear visibility. Unlike the redesigned Toyota RAV4, the CR-V isn't available with an optional third-row seat or V6 engine.
