Is it because Brazilians are mostly Catholic and to her, "Catholic" kind of meant "Christian"?

The reason I'm asking is strange. I have been interested in Catholicism, and it just seemed odd to me that she would say that. I keep wondering if there was something that seemed "Catholic" about me or something! I know, that's silly. Just wondering. I have dark hair. Maybe she thought I was Italian. Who knows.

In South America Christianity IS Catholicism and from reading comments posted here it would appear many North Americans think it is anything but. Purely a matter of semantics.

Probably it was her cultural influences. Family is Catholic in her mind. And you might look Italian, it's possible, and they are majority Catholic.
