Definition: Any food that by its very existence, and preferably its movement from mouth to stomach, causes an increase in positive emotions. Often requires minimal chewing, and frequently consists of wintery style dishes, but not necessarily sweet ones.

Examples: Bangers and mash. Chilli con carne*. Christmas pudding ice cream. Roast squash soup. Pasta bake. Mushroom jalousie. Chocolate mud pudding. Treacle sponge. Trifle. Cocoa.

*the process of cooking this is the real comfort aspect, eating is secondary. but still enjoyable.

My definition of comfort food is any food that makes a bad day better. For me i have seasonal 'comfort food' in winter stew is the only thing that'll make the cold disappear and the rain seem...well not so wet . In the summer it has to be crab sticks....i don't know...i love em...maybe they remind me of some holiday somewhere or something but they just make me happy!

Food that is close to being the same as the food Mom served you on a cold winter evening, when you were all warm and happy in a cheerful house surrounded by loved ones.

Really depends on where you're from, but meals like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, shephard's pie and stuff like that are generally comfort foods.

It really all depends on your definition of Comfort, I would like to be able to lie down and watch a film from a big cream bun that would last throughout the film....

Something that makes you feel good when you're under stress! Perhaps a bag of crisps or a bar of chocolate. But they say that when you eat this stuff under stress you don't burn the calories off and it makes you put on weight.

something yummy you eat when your feeling lonely, sad or depressed. i like crisps, chocolate, potatoes with gravy and yorkshire puddings, pizza, hotpot, shepards pie, something filling but incredibly tasty. also puddings like chocolate fudge cake, chocolate cheesecake, ,syrup sponge pudding, cookie dough icecream, cream cakes

obviously not all at the same time but they definitly are a few of my comfort food!!

Something that reminds you of childhood or happier times. it can be freezing cold (ice cream) or nice warm and stodgy (mash potato). It's different for most people and is a very personal thing!
