In Islamic mythology, the Djinn are fiery spirits, one of which was Iblis. From the Arabic junna, "angry, possessed." The Jinn pre-existed in middle eastern folklore before Islam, and were incorporated into the religion. The djinn are creatures who lived on earth before man; they were made up of 'smokeless fire' whereas men were made from earth.
Djinn are often disruptive, but can sometimes be of service to mankind. The Djinn shunned daylight and were responsible for disease and insanity. Unlike other devilish creatures, however, the Djinn are creatures of free will, even having a chance at redemption through Islam. The three classes of Djinn are:
Ghul, mishchievous shape-shifting spirits associated with graveyards. "Ghul" is the origin of the English word "ghoul."
Sila, Djinn who can appear in any form
Ifrit, evil spirits.
In Middle Eastern magical practice, Djinn are invoked much like the spirits of the Goetia in Western magick.
The word "genie" is a corruption of Djinn. Both 'Djinn' and 'Genius' probably share a common root. Djinn are said to avoid salt and steel, and to be afraid of the sound of singing.

After reading that, I wouldn't want to have sex with one of those things, though I would love to hang out with them.

I assume you mean "procreative", "contraceptive" would mean having sex for the purpose of preventing pregnancy. It is natural in social species to establish bonds through physical affection, that's how family units within a larger group tend to build and maintain bonds. The earliest bonds between a mother and child, for example, build with the physical intimacy the results from hugs and other touches that accompany taking care of an infant. That need for closeness is instinctive which is why complete isolation can drive people mad. In Western Society the Puritan influence has resulted in a widespread belief that all physical contact between people has a sexual element which is why some men so phobic about touching other. This has resulted in a cultural attitude that sex is the only acceptable way people can experience physical intimacy, and it's the deprivation of that rather than simple sexual release that causes problems. In cultures where people hold hands, hug, cuddle, or are otherwise allowed to express affection physically the sexual element is less compelling, although it can be present with the right person, as in the difference between a woman hugging her daughter and her husband. There is also the cultural conditioning we receive that sex is an affirmation of personal worth or desirability, if boys are raised to believe that getting laid a lot is the mark of being a successful or "manly" man then they will also tend to see lack of sexual success as a sign of failure overall.

There's no law that covers that scenario, so it's obviously not against the law.
