how would you describe him as a fighter and how would you rate him compared to the welterweights these days

Yes I remember him. He was a fighter who took his shot at greatness in the States, and should be commended for it. (there are some European champions these days that are content to fight in Europe, fight hand picked marginal competition and think they deserve to be called "great" for it) He lost title shots to Milton McCrory and Donald Curry. He would be HIGHLY competitive in today's welterweight division.

I don't know that much about him other than he beat Kirkland Lang twice, who was at times excellent. So going by that i would imagine that he would hold his own against most fighters these days.
