Some mini blinds do not have those boxes or sliding covers. I have seen one that just pushed up into some brackets screwed in to the window sill overhead. You might just have to pull the blinds down with alot of might and you will see the fixtures holding it in place then and be able to remove them as well.

I was already familiar with the regular (newer) style mini blind installation - but the house I bought had these old style ones installed. When I wanted to paint the rooms I could not at first figure out how to remove them.
I became annoyed - went online, saw everyone s completely useless advice and went back at them.
First; put the blind all the way up. My installation had 3 brackets: left, right and middle holding the top rail.
If you get a step ladder and look at them from the top there is a tooth on the bracket, going down into a notch that runs the length of the top rail along the back edge. The bracket also has a tab the slides into a slot along the front edge of the top rail. It doesn t seem like there is any way to get it out!
But if you look at the bracket from the underneath - there is a folded spring tab that is pressing up against the entire top rail keeping it snug against the brackets teeth & tabs.
Press this back with a flat head screwdriver and twist the top rail; front edge up and back edge down. Do each bracket one at a time and it will come out. Then just remove the screws holding the brackets in place.

The boxy looking ends have a hinged piece. You pry it them open on both ends then just slide the mini blind away from the window. The boxy ends are srewed into the header with wood screws. You'll see the screws after you slide the mini blind out.
The hinge axis on the boxy end is perpendicular to the floor.
Wish I had a picture for you, but you should get the picture (bad pun!)

I fill my bath tub with hot soapy water and a little bleach and soak my blinds in that. I have a handheld shower I rinse them with and then I lay them on a couple towels on the floor until the excess water is gone and I hang them back up. If they are still wet they will dry quicker hanging in the window !!!!!! Do one window a day so as not to make it a big chore !!!

On each end there are little panels on the front of the brackets that slide in towards the center and pop out. There is usually a little finger notch.

Is it possible that they are simply screwed in from the bottom of the headrail?
