this is funny? did i say its only a sin to get drunk? it is a sin for kings and priests to be drunken with wine and strong drink because, as it is listed in the bible, it perverts the righteousness of judgment. However, it also says in jewish tradition that King David or was it his son? that we are Let the POOR drink because then they can forget. but irregardless of what is written, the apostles of Jesus claimed that everyone should stay sober but yet one person wrote be YE DRUNK on the holy spirit.
Ok, with that said, I think i watched on the history channel the history of beer making and that two monks invented beer.
I also know that alchohol is basically the same and can be used medicinally. There is much debate between alchohol and pharmecuticals if you go to drugawareness.org and read the testimony on the EVILs of prescription drugs it would make you wonder how much less is alchohol.
Nothing should be done in excess.

Define "sin". If you're an avid church-goer, even then it's not clear-cut. Some religions ban alcohol, others allow it.
I think all talk of "sin" is ridiculous, because everybody has a different moral code. Society invented law to keep us in check and stop us from being anti-social. The legal age of booze is to prevent children from harming themselves. Otherwise, make up your own mind.
Drinking to excess can harm those around you. Is THAT even a "sin"? It's almost an impossible question.

You can drink in moderation. But it could also be a sin if it causes someone else to stumble and fall if that other person has an addiction problem with drinking.

Beer was first made by the Egyptians and was a source of nutrition for the farmers.
Even today, pregnant women in Germany drink beer to improve their breast milk.

This one is entirely dependent on your Christian denomination.
Roman Catholics and Episcopalians (and perhaps others) have been known to serve beer at church social functions, and many of their priests regularly pop a cold one.
However, Methodists, Baptists, Mormons, and others pushed hard for the 18th amendment, the one that outlawed alcohol in the US, the period referred to as Prohibition. Many of those churches still consider drinking alcohol of any kind a sin.
It seems that paying attention to health makes more sense. As I recall, the CDC says that men who have no other complicating medical condition can safely drink up to 2 drinks per day, and women probably only 1 drink per day. Those guidelines will probably be more helpful to you than trying to find loopholes in church commandments.

Well accordiing to my religion (Islam) consumming acoholic beverages of any kind are a sin. So yes I'd have to say it is. Why is it a sin? Because when a person drinks they lose control of their mind and body.

Words to live by. another example; a couple from Kentucky were honeymooning in Ireland and ran across a set of Irish honeymooners. they got to trading wedding night war stories, and the Kentuckian declares Kentucky whiskey is the best! My wife and I shared a bottle, and the next morning we decided never to drink and go to church regularly. @ that the Irishman replies: My wife & I shared a bottle of the best Irish wishey, and woke up in a church praying to the loard. The Kentuckiean said : well theres nothing wrong with that. Te Irishman replyed: yes there is, you see We're agnostic!

Catholics freely drink wine in Church so it'd be a bit hypocritical to stop beer drinking - are you a Muslim? If you are then all alcohol is a sin so get yourself a Pepsi!
