I have a Mini Schnauzer, his name is Mickey and he is very intelligent.I have a gate seperating my kitchen from the foyer and had to attach a latch on it in order to keep Mickey from roaming the house. He learned to flip the latch and go where he likes,so needless to say I had to attach another type of latch he can't seem to learn how to open now,so He will make all kinds of begging noises if he wants out.Sounds like a cat at times,or maybe saying "PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Great little pets.

Remi (Carolina Dog) makes Dog Noises, Cat Noises & Bird Trills. I have watched him imitate Squirel Noises as well...
and sometimes I swear he is attempting Human Noises.. like he has sounds for "Go" and "Walk" and "Ride" that sound very much like a doggie's version of those words :)
And he likes to "Sing" (howl & bark) with my boyfreind when he plays harmonica.. but what is wierder is when he makes this low rumbly almost a growly sound when he is "Humming along" while Raymond is Humming a part of a song....
Animals are incredible & can be wierd
I had a horse once that liked to moo at the cows... he would move his head in cow mooing movements & the sound that came out sounded more like mug-ggluggg-mugggg....

I love schnauzers, I have had 3 of them and they are adorable...They will do anything for attention...My first one was so jealous that when the grandkids kelp a easter rabbit at my house,my schnauzer started eating carrots and lettuce ha ha....He is normal,if there is a cat around hes doing it for attention, they are very jealous dogs and smart...As i said my first one acted as though he knew just what I was saying, but he was old and died with cancer, his name was Higgins, and I have had 2 since then, one was stolen and one died of another disease...Your dog is not a freak they will do anything even burr like a kitten if thats what it takes....its not good to have another pet with a schnauzer, because they will bully the other pet to gain control...Enjoy that dog you have they are comical......and fun....they all seem to understand you very well and are smart. My friends accused my schnauzers of being physic....Mine wen as far as pretending he was sick, and I took him to the vet and he told me he was just spoiled rotten,he would just fall out so i would panic ha ha ....Good luck hes just being a normal little schnazer...

It's normal I think. Our miniature schnauzer actually purrs when you rub her belly. She makes high pitched sounds when she's excited that sound kind of like a cat, too. Aren't they great? She is so different from other dogs I've had...she acts like a baby and sounds like a cat...what a combination!

Is it possible he was raised with kitties? Maybe he just learned to imitate them. Also, small dogs tend to have higher pitched yip barks than other dogs.
