First, for all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it.
On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common questions amount to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete.
Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.
There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.
The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.
Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.
To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine.
For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.
Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.
There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.
If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

Ok Vicki allow me to be absolutely serious and I hope this helps. I just recently discovered a natural & healthy way to gain energy and lose weight that's even safe for people with diabetes. I implemented an anti-oxidant juice, a healthy energy drink (that only cost $1.oo), and a simple and great “No Diet Weight Loss Plan” into my life. I feel 100% better and have a ton of more energy than I have ever had. I have lost 2 1/2" in my waist and I have lost 21 pounds in only the last 27 days. What’s incredible (honestly) is that I did not diet (that’s boring), eat special foods (that cost extra money), skip meals (that makes your stomach growl), or even exercise (as I can not because of disc damage in my lower back). I have been told that I can not send a web link through this service but if you would like e-mail me or IM me from my profile and I will point you to the web site and to the products that have changed my life and my health.

If you are serious about losing body fat, set a goal for yourself and aim to achieve it. You need a motive to carry on, to do cardio first thing in the morning, to pass over that second helping of your favorite food.
No less than 3-5 cardio workouts at 30-60 minutes a week, preferably pre-breakfast. Maybe one of the most significant methods of losing fat is cardiovascular training. This is where most of the calorie burning takes place. So bust your butt - the benefits will be huge.
The basics of a successful fat loss plan include drinking plenty of water, eating 5-6 small meals a day rather than three large meals, and not cutting your calories too drastically to send your body into starvation mode. A good rate of fat loss is 1-2 pounds per week – if you’re losing more, you’re probably shedding much needed muscle as well.
Avoiding eating just before bedtime.
just a few tips that helped me, hope it helps you!!
good luck

Hi! The best way to lose weight is to switch to a healthy diet. Try the following sincerely for a month and check your weight. Eat only fruits for a meal preferably breakfast or dinner to full stomach. Don't combine fruits and cooked food. Have lots of vegetables, whole grains and other fibre-rich food. Avoid refined flour food - pasta, burgers, bread, sandwich... Don't eat any junk food. Drink at least 12 glasses of water a day. Constipation can lead to weight gain..drinking a glass of warm water first thing in the morning every day can help empty your bowels, and help reduce your weight too. Doing yoga, exercising or playing outdoor sports is also highly beneficial.

Here are lots of tips on site below. Also don't take it personally when people make bad remarks. It is a reflection on them, not you. Misery loves company so it just means they are misarable and have a miserable life.
Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Get latest info like American Heart Association does not want you to eat more than 6 ounces daily of meat, fish or poultry. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

I have learned that eating in moderation dont limit your choices just make sure you are eating enough food and not overdoing it. Either 3 balanced meals with 2 snacks or 6 small meals throughout the day. Your body needs fuel. I would give myself 1-2 treat days a week.
Drink lots of water.
Exercise 5-6 times a week. Make sure you are doing cardio and weight training.
Have a food cutoff time. I use 7pm.

Eat protein this keep you from feeling hungry, makes you feel full for longer, and gives you better muscle, eat things such as bacon, eggs, fish, nuts, protein shakes/bars (make sure they are lower calorie bars).
Having muscle makes you look tonned and slim you will not go bulky unless you lift very very heavy weights and eat high calorie and high protein foods, like body builders. Having muscle makes your body burn off more calories. calories contribute to weight gain, if you look at the backs of packets of food they tell you how many calories is in what you eat, aim to have 1,000 - 1,500.
Then make sure you exercise, some thing which gets your heart going, and do it 4 or 5 times a week, such as treadmills, elliptical trainers, bikes, jogging or just brisk walking if your not with a gym.
As well from protein have fruit and veg, try for 5 per day, but be careful because with the protein too you might consume too many calories, things like grapes and strawberrys, they are mostly water and lowest calorie fruit. There can be up to 3 or 4 portions of your 5 a day in one box of strawberrys. So it doesn't get boring add some low fat yogurt.
It can be fun losing weight. You will start to crave fruit over sugar filled foods like chocolate and sweets. You can get some friends together on even try something new by yourself like dance classes, classes at a gym or something and make new friends.
Drink water, a good thing which helps me to lose weight is have a pint of water when your hungry or before a meal so you eat less, i know its a lot but it fills you up, clears out your body and skin.
Buying clothes a size too small and hang them up in your bedroom in view. Take 'before' pictures and keep them to look at and remind you why you want to lose weight.
Xx good luck

After seeing your doctor to make sure you are ok to do so....walking and quitting sugar-filled soda is a good first step. Also, smaller portions each meal. Also, find an interesting hobby that keeps your mind off of snacking. One thing I've found that helps is to eat a healthy, filling breakfast with something like oatmeal and a banana, then try to go 6 hours without your next meal. At least there will be 6 hours each day you can control yourself in. Make it a tradition.

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent (not backbreaking) workout as well.

Make small, gradual changes and over time, they will have an extremely powerful effect on you.
Check out http://www.obesitykills.iconfessional.com . The guy there is an ex-Marine, like myself, and he's putting together a program for himself in his blog that will get him back into shape. It will work for pretty much anyone and he's doing it all publically.
He's not selling anything, just sharing what he's doing as he does it. He's hoping for encouragement and motivation from his readers.
Hope that helps.
