I like your sense of humour. Made me smile. Obviously a lot of people out there don't have one. Good luck with the dog training. The best dogs to leave them with is a Rottweiler..... They LOVE children.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/jlFSp
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

Presumably u r having a laugh here. Well either that or you are seriously crazy. It is unlawful and immoral to leave a toddler home without an adult around. There is also the obvious danger of leaving a dog alone with a child. However much you love & trust your pet, a dog is no babysitter!

You first have to train it to dial 911 in case of emergency.
Then it has to learn how to keep your child out of danger, getting into poison, etc.
OH, and don't forget to teach it NOT to answer the door to any strangers!!!
If you seriously want to try to train your dog to babysit, you have serious issues, and should seek help! I don't think you are competent to be a responsible parent if you are even considering that idea. I usually don't put down people's questions. I am a firm believer that no question is a stupid question. BUT, THAT WAS A STUPID QUESTION! While you're at it, you might as well go all the way and teach it to cook dinner, make the beds and do the laundry while you are away! Good Dog....don't forget to bring him home a treat!

you have already had alot of abuse so my suggestion is you do not leave your child home alone with the dog for however many hours you really dont know what sort of physco could enter your house and kidnap your toddler your best bet is a family friend dont go to daycare's because most of them ill treat the children and dont hire a babysitter unless they have a police report good luck

Bring in a professional they're in the phone book. I know you're paying out money initially but they train dogs well to babysit. It will pay for itself though as you will soon have the neighbours knocking on your door asking to borrow the dog...so they can go to the pub or something. The money they pay you will soon pay for a professional trainer. Good luck!

I think if you got a St. Bernard you may be o.k. although he'd have a hell of a time with the potty training stuff with no thumbs and all. It's awful hard to undo buttons with no thumbs.
not to mention how sticky his fur would get making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Tie a dog toy around the toddler's neck so that he wil never leave her side.
