I can only assume this is some sort of genetically driven response, after all the possible alternative is inbreeding, with all the genetic problems that causes. Most brothers and sisters have a similar attitude to each other in their formative years. My son and daughter certainly did. Now they are on quite friendly terms, but they are 26 and 30 respectively now.

Firstly, how old are you both? Are there any issues within the family past between you or your close family members? Maybe he feels you are better than him in some ways, and get more approval from ur parents than he does making him feel inadequate? It could totally be a jealousy thing, and could sort itself out in the future, for now try not to take it too much to Heart. As he probably doesnt mean it, and will regret the nasty things he says to you.

I'm sure he doesn't want you dead. You don't say how old you are but I'm guessing early teenage years...

I think all brothers and sisters go through a stage like that, just give him some space and ignore him for a while. Pretend you don't care or even hear what he's saying.

That's what boys do. You're having an emotional response. The correct response would be making a comment back at him. This is how guys bond. We swear at each other and fight a lot. Good times too, you ought to try it. Just wrestle him to the ground and cuss him out. It'll make a good relationship even better! Sounds srtange but it'll work.

My brother used to say that to me as a child. He's now 37 and said to my husband last year "tell my sister I'll see her in heaven". Just ignore it - its infantile behaviour and I think in my brother's case its his way of trying to make himself appear stronger and also attention seeking. Best of luck and don't worry - some people (at certain times in their life's, for whatever reason, seem able to live without a conscience).

Don't worry, he probably doesn't mean it. People can say the strangest of things sometimes and not realise the impact that it might have on the recipient. You should, if you can, try to explain to him how his comments actually make you feel or if you can't sit down and have a little chat, simply ignore it and he'll grow out of it.
