tell them to pick their nose in the bathroom. or teach them how to use tissues. just tell them people don't like to look at it. be careful not to react to it so much that they do it just because you've made it into a game - to annoy you.

Pick their noses for them?

Seriously, my three year old daughter does the same thing. AS SOON as I catch her, I grab a tissue and make her blow her nose. I also tell her that although picking her nose may get the job done, she is going to have germs on her hands that can make her sick if she puts her hands in her mouth or she can make her friends sick with her boogies on her fingers..... yes, I know it's kind of a stretch, but she believes it.

If your main concern is them picking their noses in public, this is what I did: when my daughter started picking her nose once when we were at the grocery store. I pointed out to her that all of the grown ups and the big kids weren't picking their noses, now were they? No. The grown ups and big kids know the right way to get boogers out of their noses and I handed her a tissue to blow her nose. Then I gave her some hand sanitizer to clean the germies off of her hands.

It sure won't be overnight that they stop picking their noses. I'd probably choose my battles.... as long as they don't do it in public and as long as they aren't wiping their boogers on each other or wiping them on the walls or furniture, let them do it. They're boys! I still catch my 28 year old husband doing it sometimes. (which is where my daughter probably "picked" it up from. HA!)

Good luck with nose-fest! I'm sure they will grow out of it eventually.

I have a nine year old that still does it. Any time I see him doing it I tell him to go get a Kleenex. He is finally getting better this year and I don't see him doing it quite as often. Just keep reminding them what a Kleenex is for. Good Luck!!

I have a boss that is almost 50 and he still picks his nose and puts them in his .....use your imagination. Now that's gross!!!

I was always able to keep my daughter from doing this by telling ger there were germs in the nose and eating them would make her sick. But she started playing with some other kids who do it and their Mom thinks it's nothing, so my 7 year old now eats boogers!!! I hope someone will answer your question with a great answer and help us both out. But you could try the 'getting sick' thing with your son.

Yea, I have two children but i don't remember having a problem with them pickin their snot locker. I don't see any thing wrong with what i said, The cheese will make their finger smell like a dead animal and i don't think they will be shoving it up their nose! The hot sause will burn when they try to pick it. You put a dab on their finger then wipe it off, The residue will be enough to burn.

If you constantly make a big deal about it they will continue you to do it because they are getting attention from you, negative or positive it is the attention they are looking for. Make it less of a big deal and they will eventually stop digging away. They are also in that "discovering their bodies" phase. And they are boys so get used to them playing with their bodies.

tell them the boogy man is up there and will bite their fingers off.
i'm kidding. that's not nice. my experience with my children has been giving them tissue every time I see them picking, not making a big deal of it. In no time they will get the point.
