You should avoid hip replacement if you have any type of infection. People are highly susceptible to infection after a hip replacement. Let your doctor know and he can prescribe something to clear up the infection.

Hospitals normally will not do any surgery if an infection is in your blood stream. A friend of mine just went for a knee operation. When he got there they sent him home on antibiotics. He had an abscess tooth.

I see no reason why not. Nail fungus is only imbedded into your toenails, I believe that's what you mean by infection- and your orthopedic surgeon would certainly be qualified to know if it is safe and he would not schedule your operation if there is any chance that you can have an ongoing infection.

Does your surgeon know about this ? Are you on antibiotics for the infection ? I would message him/her. It is up to your Provider to make this decision. Call as soon as possible.
Good luck ! RN in Ca.

Of course it can. They are working on the hip, not the nails.
Good luck with this op anyway - ugh !
