There is no such thing as a small sin, in the same way that a small cavity can do big damage to one's tooth.

According to the Catholic church it is a small sin not a big one. But that rule was made when people got married back when they were 14 so it was alot easier to resist. If your a strict every Sunday mass kind of Catholic well just say it during confession the priest will tell you to say a few prayers and problem solved. If your not then well have fun. It was a sin because supposedly you were spilling your seed which could had been a child, and makes "love" more demeaning. Also it depends on the thought of mind at the time like anything bondage etc is more thought. Also with overpopulation and it being harder to provide for a big family birth control and masturbation should be thought as more accepted which is why the church needs to be updated.
Hope I was of some help.
Until next time yours truly,
Wranderer

murder (in any form) is a sin since it is defiitely included as one of the 10 commandments. However no where does masturbation get mentioned in the bible and is not covered by the big 10 so how could it be a sin. Sure it is frowned upon by some people (mostly those who fail to understand human anatomy and sexuality and are just prudish that way but that is their belief and not really enough to make it sinful.

The bible says that "The ways that seems right to men often lead to death and destruction"
People claim that masturbation doesn't hurt anyone, in a way they are right.
But the first question is: "Does it offend God?"
The main point is that masturbation is a sin against chastity. Our body is the temple of the holy spirit so we should keep our selves clean. If masturbation is not a sin, then why do you feel so filthy and ashamed after doing it?
God said thou shall not lie. It is also the same God that said: Thou shall not kill. Killing seems more sinful than lying right? Yes. But they but carry the same punishment...Hell.
Its hard to quit, I know that. But you should stop. Why? Because it offends God and it will lead you to eternal condemnation
For you to ask this question means that you have the spirit of Christ in you. So what you have to do now is to open your heart and let sin out and let Christ in. May God Bless you

Hi, To answer this question, no it is not. However, lusting is a sin, (Such as viewing porn, or participating in lewd behavior.) There are many things that seperate us from God. However Jesus bridged the gap between us and God. The bible says that idle hands create mischeif. So if I may say so, it would be better if you were to busy yourself with something that would please God. Get involved with a church, and volunteer your time in your community. I broke the habit of masturbating just by busiing myself, so that when I was ready to lay in bed, I would be too tired! Also, I found that if I started to pray to God, my mind was set on things above rather than on satisfying myself. Hope this has answered your question.

obviously it is not as serious as taking someone's life.
James 4 v 17
Masturbation is a use of the genitals that is not in harmony with the creator's intentions. manipulation of the genitals for pleasure is a form of fornication. If we know what is right and do not do it we are falling short of god's standards but if we try hard even if we should stumble many times if we are genuine he will forgive us.

Well, first you have to convince me that masturbation is an "evil sin".....
Personally, I don't see a need for it, but I am not the One Who will be judging.

Even though in the bible it doesnt say " dont mastubate" it does imply with sexual imorality that you should not do is, and that god doesnt do it. Heres an illistration. Say your docter tells you not to eat sweets like cake, ice cream, cookies, ect. Does that mean your allowed to eat pie, torts, or frosting. (work with me here) Just because its not stated right in the bible doesnt mean its not a serious sin.

No. I taught 20 years in Catholic school. When we separated the genders for sex ed, I told the boys that there is NOTHING WRONG with masturbating. It's a natural course in human development. I cannot tell you how many boys looked relieved.
It's a really really old rule...don't follow it! You are a good person with a natural urge that EVERY male has...including the Pope!
