Severe dysplasia is NOT cancer but a form of precancer.
Cells on the cervix will undergo changes sometimes when
the patient has the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Over
70 to 80 percent of the population is infected with this virus
and do not know. If severe dyplasia (also known as a High
grade squamous intrapithelial lesion) is left untreated, it can turn into cancer. Cervical cancer can be a slow growing cancer and is quite curable when detected early enough. But the important is to follow your doctors instructions. Good luck to you.

They do not know if there is cause to be concerned so they did not say, other than to encourage you to see a specialist. This is not cancer, although it is a pre-cursor condition which can lead to cancer. Without treatment, about half of the time, these cervical changes do not progress to cancer, the other half they do. (http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncanc11.htm) I do not know the statistics with treatment, but I am certain they are much better. Thus it is important to take care of it. But this doesn't mean you should be afraid. It is much more likely that you will get treatment and be just fine. If you had cancer, they would have been much more concerned about not having you wait to get treatment. I know it is not easy, but try not to worry too much. My heart goes out to you, and I will say a little prayer that you can be brave and healthy. *hugs*

What you have can lead to cervical cancer if it is not checked. Your specialist will be able to answer any and all questions you have. Take your boyfriend or a loved one with you, they will be able to remember stuff that you forget. Try not to stress so much...I know that's easier said than done. But look at it this way, stressing about it won't make it go away, it'll just keep you up nights worrying.
Good Luck and God Bless!!

make an appointment with a oncologist gynecologist.... take your records with you from your pap test and biopsy...The doctor may perform a surgery called a cone, which should remove the bad cells. I had this done 3 years ago, it really is not a bad procedure....My most important advice to you is to see a Oncologist Gynocologist
