Look I understand the need to answer, but is it necessary to take up space with scripture after scripture, and avoid the question all together, and think that you are making your point with something that I feel you can quote, but not live by. I am sorry, but normally i respect everyones beliefs, but today too many Christians have been absolutely very judgemental today, and I feel am I am tired as well, which leads to frustration.

I am christian, but that dont matter because I love God over any religion. I agree with you though. I cannot quote to you any scripture unless I look it up for I am too busy living them.

Thanks for sharing your views. You are on target but not for all "christians" in that category :)

agreed, it easier to scripture than think about the question.
but not all or even most Christians are doing this.
there are a lot of Christians that give well thought out answers.
and I have been impressed with the way that the christian community has developed a grasp of what God want them to understand.

when i see an answer with a lot of scriptures in the answer i normally scroll past them, to get to the answers that have thought put into them.

Perhaps they are feel that a one or two sentence answer does not suffice when trying to anwers questions that have to deal with OUR HOLY FATHER AND SAVIOR. Or maybe you're just trying to test Him by testing his flock. Either way, if you ask Christians a question you can not be upset when you get words from the Bible in return. That would be like asking a football player a question at a press conference and getting upset when he quotes stats and figures from the game.

The reason that christians answer questions with answers that would fill a book is because in order to make their point in the answer you have to have proof to back up their view point. So, they have to quote scripture by chapter and verse in order to get someone to get more insight into their answer.

Just one little scripture quote ...so bear with me.

For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ, ' and will deceive many.
Matthew 24:4-6

Half of the judgmental, intolerant, preachy unloving,& hypocritical so called Christians on this site are evil little fakes that God spits on. I am a Christian who lives by my beliefs and the principles in the Bible like love my neighbor and judgeing not! So please overlook alot of this junk and please do not think they represent us all.

Sorry if I sound so mean but I hate the way a few make us look like idiots.

People are asked in many cases to back up their theology with scriptural proof. Most havent learned that scriptures and quotes are meaningless to everyone but disciples.
I can write thousands of pages that the bible falls short on answering but i usually just tell people I beheld 3 visions of the glory of Christ and if these visions are proof that there is a GOD, than my testimony is valid proof for all to hear. i was a child of darkness, when the light shined upon me, I knew i loved GOD more than the devil. do not be deceived Evil abounds in the earth and there are many things not of God that will deceive many.

the scripture they continually quote has not actually been inculcated into their heads and then reflected in their lives...so they still can't think along those line without regurgitating the scripture...
Christianity is suppose to be judgmental..as is Islam..
We in the secular world just don't like it...
If the servants of the King are to friendly with the enemy, it is seen as suspect...Because the secular world that refuses GOD is the enemy.

The main reason I do it is becase I want to explain my belief and answer the ? as best as i can. By backing up my answer with whats actualy in the bible, I might make ppl reason or think of somthing they havnt before.

Ha ha ha ! I have seen the long answers! There is no one correct religion. All loving beliefs lead to God. and i am so going to get thumbs down for this but its true.

Ha-ha.
I agree many christians are like that.
However, may I introduce you to one who doesn't: ME.
Nice to meet you.

I agree, i find myself often disliking "bible-thumpers" who long-windedly quote things that are of little relevance to anything.
But, why, to get to your question... Why do they do this. Because they are self-important wind-bags who think that people actually care that they can recite at length scripture that they hipocriteously spew from their lips.
