they are no longer impressed with their own original belief (their parent's religion)? They even bag buddhism/hinduism! Do they even know the basics of these or the thought behind the practices before they put all beliefs in one bag that you think deserves to be discarded? Is that not prejudiced that you call other beliefs bad just coz you had a bad experience with your own for eg. christianity?

i don't know many atheists who say anything negative about Buddhism and Hinduism
in fact when asked on this site what religion they would choose , it does tend to be one of these
and to be honest i have found that many atheists have studied religion more than most religious

Atheists that 'bag' all religions tend to be what I call 'logic whores'.

These are people who have convicned themselves that nothing exists outside the realm of known science. This system of intelligence is highly flawed, of course, because any new science they accept is teetering on the brink of evidence and they are merely only -believing- that scientists have come to a solid conclusion. Science is wrong on occasion and that creates some interesting problems with the science faithful when public theories have to be restructured for new data.

In reality, Science is a still growing field and has touched upon supernatural phenomena as very real though still unexplained occurances. Why visions of long dead persons appear to people and on some recording equipment hasn't been explained away, and worse; is deliberately not investigated by skeptics who would cringe at another restructuring of the laws of physics to accept something like the concept of a soul.

Hardcore atheists are no better than evangelists of religion. The failure is believing that there is an absolute right and all else is wrong. It has nothing to do with being raised in a religious enviroment or having bad experiences, it's simply a critical error in thought.

Well those few aetheists give bad names to them. They are the kind of purely materialistic person who got fed up with every Sunday church a long time ago with their parents and had a bad experience and then think all godly belief is stupid. It is good to have a perspective form all angles of the playing board. These aeitheists are just purely fools who are usually the kind who party constantly and will end up givin 5 dollar blow jobs to get some drugs. Most other aetheists will try to take a moral philisophical approach to everything.
Hope I was of some help.
Until next time yours truly,

I don't think you should be putting us all in a bag by saying we all act or do the same thing
or that we are no longer Impressed by our own beliefs
you know what
The only thing I'm not impressed by is Imaginary GOD's
If I ever have some time to waste and would like to read a good fairytale novel
then I might pick up a religious book and read it.

How do you know that some Atheists don't study religions? Most of the ones I've come across are very well versed in multiple religions.

It's usually people who've grown up with one religion that don't bother to learn much about other practices. They judge other faiths without ever questioning their own.

Most atheists I have known simply consider religion an estrangement from spirituality. Personally, I don't blame them, because most religions are ways to justify low self esteem, guilt, and fear of the unknown. Mind you, not ALL religions are bunk, but once spirituality is confined to words, it loses most of it's truth..More times than not, this ambiguity is exploited by most political structures to oppress the masses and has been since the dawn of communication. Most atheists are quite embittered by these tyrannies, and their blind followers.
By the way, the next time you find yourself in such conversation with an "atheist", you might ask them, with reference to our Maker, "How does one take a stand against something that does not exist?"

Do you even know what atheism is? Total lack of belief in God. They aren't parts of any religions because they don't believe in God. All of the religions you mentioned have a diety at the core. It's has nothing to do with their personal prejudices, they just don't believe those religions are correct.
If you don't believe the sky is red, you aren't going to be a Redskyian -- someone who believes you'll go to heaven when you die if you believe the sky is red. It has nothing to do with emotions, it has to do with what you believe. Atheism is the same way.

Your question is based on a false premise. Why do you assume that all atheists were brought up in religious families and are uneducated in the basics of all the mainstream religions?

Because of two things,

1. The supernatural does not exist, so it doesn't matter what you dress it up as, what rituals you perform, etc etc there is still nothing out there,

and

2. In my experience atheists, being of enquiring mind, tend to know a damn sight more about religions than believers, including the religion of the believers themselves,

Like so many others - they just need to believe what they want and ignore the rest. I hate anyone who tries to thump their beliefs on another - sooo annoying!!
