um...chalk is made from gypsum...cornstarch on the other hand is not...however either of these two obviously are not ideal to eat...if you have calcium deficiency I would suggest a strong calcium supplement and Mezotrace brand mineral/calcium supplements w/ trace minerals...believe me there's more calcium*minerals*trace minerals in those two supplements than any human body really needs...my hypothesis here is that you may be suffering from a mild psychiatric disorder in much the same manner as a child who eats paste or glue...something that will probably pass in time given your willingness to change your disorder yourself..hmm...I might suggest when you feel the urge to eat those substances (having taken the mineral supplements)...try a teaspoon of Maalox...it may help you curb you cravings as that is a chalky-like liquid...keep trying...don't give up...and good luck..

I would think that since cornstarch is a food product that is used in corn meal, and other bready products it's fine to eat. How do you not break your teeth on the chalk?
I would say that you should talk to your doctor about some kind of suppliments that you can take.

Well considering cornstarch is in many many foods nowadays I dont see the shorterm harm in it.
However, the cornstarch you're eating may not be processed or refined as well or in the same manner as it is in foods we eat normally.
I would think it's pretty safe although may not be entirely too healthy in the long term. It may cause dehydration or other problems but don't take my word on it.

Corn starch is just a complex carbohydrate..what you are actually craving is sugar.. try glucose or something- i dont know about chalk- i guess its fine to eat chalk.. but i would think milk would be healthier in curing a calcium deficiency..
again psychology plays a very great role on what we think we need, it may be a matter of practising self restraint and curing your calcium deficiency using supplements

Not sure about the chalk, but the cornstarch is fit for human consumption, but only in moderation. See your doctor, or nutritionist.

Don't think so. Can't you buy calcium supplements instead? (just asking)
