Very little. But then there were many attempts to stop the bow and arrow!!

We cannot put it back in the box. New military nuclear technology is already coming up with weapons such as the Hafnium Bomb which does not use either nuclear fission or fusion but instead emits gamma radiation a thousand times greater than that from conventional chemical explosives.

Chemical weapons are merely concocted from a recipe of chemicals that have many peacetime uses. So we simply cannot ban the precursor chemicals.

Biological weapons are still pretty much a myth. The US, UK, Russia and probably several other countries have tried - and failed -to produce anthrax as a bio weapon and failed!!! Even with their money and facilities they could not produce spores fine enough to disperse in a weapons grade manner. Thus even in the recent attacks only a few were contaminated and those were not the intended targets. Bio weapons are highly unlikely to be made usable enough in the near future to do other than a token gesture.

The problem is even harder when the very toxins used are required for laboratory research to find cures and anti toxins!!

The only viable answer is to pursue world peace, greater international understanding and open dialogue where ever and when ever it is possible.

Politically we could compromise on the small stuff to UNITE. I'm so sick of hearing these political campaigns ... he did this ... she did that ... ahhh annoying!!!

If the USA UNITED ... and the World UNITED ... giving up the small stuff ... maybe giving up freedoms like "Fair Trials", or "Wire Tapping" in exchange for more central intelligence ... we'd run these idiots who don't understand the science of the true effects of these weapons of mass destruction.

Religiously & spiritually the "Rosary" was given to us by 'Our Lady of Fatima' to small childreen to save all humans from nuclear destruction and communism. Pray it every day.

First persuade the countries which are producing such weapons to immediatly stop and then target those countries who have amassed such weapons to destroy them and then look to the countries who are openly and clandestinely having programmes to produce them. Force to enforce this dicipline should be ;the lost resort since it may make that country and stubborn and challenge. So persuation is the best thing one can adopt.
