A lot of your answers depend on the state you live in. Regardless of the state, you will need a bill of sale that describes the vehicle, the sale amount (or trade specifics), the odometer reading of the vehicle at the time of sale. The VIN (vehicle ID number). The Year, Make, and Model of the car. You will also need the "pink slip" from the previous owner showing that they are signing it over to you - this will provide the DMV the name of the current registered owner. If the seller's name is different, be prepared to have their full name and current address.

Some states will require that you show proof of insurance before you can register it.

This isn't an answer to the question but an opinion..you should never have business dealing money or any other large item transfers with a coworker/relative! in the event that something bad happens for either party could lead to hard feelings and loss of friendship...only say this due to being there before

are u trading u car for other car or switch cars. Depend on state or country u will have pay taxs on car. depend on year of car but i would not trade cars with my coworker because what happy if u trade that car and week later the car broke down and maybe he or she will make u fix it so dont trade with co worker because u will are working same place. He or she may tell other workers that u lie to them about car and it was in good conditation but when they got it was bad.Plus it can damage u friendship with cowork.
