I don't like to go to church because I feel like everyone is looking at me and judging me by THEIR standards that they have chosen for thier own life. I would rather spend my time outside with nature and think about what I value and believe, and choose the standards by which I will live my own life.

Church is fine if you treat it like any other club. It's a place to socialize with other people, but those people do not have to live your life or pay the consequences of your personal decisions. However, in my experience, many people at church think they have to impress each other and judge each other to make themselves feel better about how they are living their own life.

No matter what you do, you need to lay out your own set of values, priorities, and standards for your self.

Wow! Ask a simple question! Get a load of bile, hatred and ignorance and an evangelising Muslim as well (no harm to the Muslim,).
The simple answer according to studies is yes! At a non religious level it is good to be part of a community. Studies show that people who are in a faith congregation live longer and are more satisfied with life.
Although I strive to be a Christian and am involved with a lovely caring and friendly church, it is not my job or anyone elses to tell you which church to attend. Get out there, have a look round and see if any interest you.
May you find what you are looking for and above all, have a good life!

It is good to go church, i dont see why not. We spend so much time doing things we want to do, having so much fun, why not just spend even one hour a week or even a month in the church just to show some appreciation to God. Truthfully though, you dont have to go to church to worship God, as God is all around us and we can pray to him whenever we want to.

I must disagree with CeAnne slightly though in which she claims the catholic faith is the first christian faith which all other churches dervied from. First of all, there were many small christian sects which arose in the first 100 years after christ. But the Eastern orthodox church and the coptic church were among the first and original. Dont forget that the original new testament was written in Greek and the word catholic is a greek word meaning universal. the catholics split away from the orthodox church. I will take you back to the pope's funeral last year, Greek orthodox priests had to conduct the service for him.

Jesus said he came to establish his church and the book of acts talks about the reason that church is good. When it's done according to God's blueprint, it is helpful for building up other believers, using the gifts of the spirit, for growth and fellowship, for outworking the love of Jesus into the community and for showing his love as we love each other, often in practical ways. I belong to a new frontiers church and God is really moving in this area, as he is in many spirit led churches like the evangelical church or the baptists, we have built great friendships and links with these other churches. Here's the link to the new frontiers website.

yes it is good. When going to church you feel refresh and safe. It's almost like "recharging your batteries". All that is negative turns into positive. Is that a bad thing? By reading some of the answers, one can see some individuals have a real depressing life and love to play the victim. Go to any church and listen. Decide for yourself. I promise your eyes will open to a world that has no boundaries. good luck!

Yes it is good to go to church. It is good to fellowship with people who are trying to live according to God's rules because we can build each other up and help each other in times of need. We can also rejoice with each other. Please do not judge all Christians by the bad examples you see in the press, most of us would be classed as boring do gooders and not very newsworthy. We want to show God's love to our community Not only do we try to be a positive influence in the community (without trying to convert anyone) but we also give a percentage of our offering to relieving hardship and suffering throughout the world. I am a member of the Baptist Church and as long as I am a member it will continue to be imperfect but Thank God I am forgiven.

John 9: 31 now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God, and does his will, he hears him.

Try a non-denominational church, preferably charasmatic. Usually have youth/church christian bands and raising your hands and , in some cases, depending on how the holy spirit is working at the time, people get absolutely crazy with his spirit upon them. Non-denominational means their not baptist, catholic, or follow the usual "drudgeries" of "doing church". Going to church is an act, it's a building. Learning to love Jesus and accepting the grace and love of god it's what it's all about.

A church and religion are not one and the same. A church is a mere building and if it does not contain Christ then it is not worthy of attending. There is but one true Faith and without that you will not find what you are searching for. Religion and God is something that every person seeks knowing or unknowingly because God is our creator and every being has a natural instinct to want to know our creater.

It is holy and healthy for one to believe in the one true faith which is the Catholic faith. But it is not of extreme necessity to attend a church to do this. It is important to understand all the aspects and teachings of the Faith before entering into it. If it is God that you seek the Catholic Faith is the only one that has Him. All other churches have derived from this faith (with the exception of Jewish in which the Catholic church is the fulfillment of and Mohomedism which is not of God's teaching) due to man's desire to do what he wills instead of what God wills.

Yes it is good to go to church to hear God's word preached.

Remember, ...in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of preaching, to save them that believe, 1 Corinthians 1/21.

Your problem is to find a church where God's word is truly preached.

If you live in/near London you could try the Metropolitan Tabernacle at Elephant & Castle
where God's word is preached. They also have a website and you can download sermons : www.metropolitantabernacle.org
