Any advice from moms, please ;) I dont have any children of my own yet, but I just started a small baby clothing line - Im having the hardest time trying to advertise - can you tell me what kinds of magazines you guys read, where you look into for baby clothes - im just trying to get some ideas, and advertising on the internet is way too expensive since Im just starting out - and im not familiar with the whole baby community because I dont have any ;(

if you want to see what im working with here is the link - i just dont know how to get it out there so that "moms" see it...

I appreciate any help- thanks ;)

Try advertising in magazines that are free to parents...something that is available in the library. Don't forget to target Grandmas! I'm to poor to buy new expensive clothing but they usually spurge!

OMG! Isn't that just CUTE!! We look at Family Circle Magazine and Parenting. Child is also another good one. Or maybe just run off a couple hundred copies and when you go to the Dr.'s office, just leave a stack of them here and there. Like in the waiting area of the birthing unit, or some hospitals have a new moms pack full of diapers, wet wipes, lotions, etc. And see you they would let you stick a flier or something along with the new moms packs. OR, I got it!! You may have to out some money, but sometimes you have to take a few steps backwards to get huge leaps ahead. But anyway, for like a month or so, get the names of the new babies born at your local hospitals and make them a free one! Everyone will come to see the outfit on the baby, and it's good advertisement!! ANd it's free advertisement!! Or put one of your designs on a baby doll with a tag sewn onto the inside back label on how to get their own personal design, and leave the babies in random places. Like a park, or school. Dr.'s offices again. I wish I had another baby so I could get an outfit!! Wait a minute...no I don't....

I don't read any magazines, but I used to go to a lot of playgroups. Could you organize with a local playgroup co-ordinater to have a little stall there one week to show your products? You could offer a discount to the moms, in return for the playgroup leader letting you show your stuff there, and you could offer the playgroup a percentage of your total sales for their group funds.
If you made it like a tupperware party, very friendly without the hard-sell idea, it might work very well. And there are lots of playgroups. You would get a lot of word-of-mouth advertising very quickly with your direct target market.
Are you also asking in the business questions section of yahoo on how to advertise small business cheaply?
Letterbox drops are a cheap way of advertising. Also offering discount vouchers with your brochures usually gets people in.

A trick many people don't know about is the business-cards-in-library-books trick. Slip your business cards into library books that mothers are likely to borrow at all your local libraries. It is foolproof. Mothers read those books, like child-raising books etc; mothers will find your business card and realise you exist. Ta da!
Good luck!

More than knowing the person, I'd like to know why I got a thumbs-down, because sometimes I have no idea and it makes me worry that I have a fact wrong in my answer. I think they ought to be able to anonymously leave a reason. That would also help if someone really needed to fact-check and gave someone wrong information. I wonder why some people give EVERYONE who answers the same question thumbs-down, regardless of their answers. You can usually tell who it is then--the one person without a thumbs-down!

Don't limit yourself to just parenting magazines, don't forget grandparents also make up a big portion of the baby/children market. So don't forget AARP, etc., also, grandparents are younger these days. Something to think about.
