There's more then just one but I'd say the most important one or pair are understanding and communication the rest of the relationship centers on those two. I hope this answer helps. Compromise is good too but not too much to the point where you or your partner try to change eachother.

That's just it, there isn't just one...(typically) there has to be honesty, communication, sexual compatibility, intellectual compatibility, emotional compatibility, trust, spark/chemisty and the list could go on...is one more important than all the others? Without any one of them, a relationship is likely to fail...so which would be the most important, if all are needed?

I would definitely say truth, honesty, trust, and honor. If your significant other has had any reason to distrust you or visa versa you or he/she will have to work really hard to gain that back, otherwise it will be a thorn in your relationship forever. Or if you are just not really feelin the love talk to him/her about it.

I vote for trust and understanding.
Trust and understanding will never age, unless you want it to.

As you get old your body will become unattractive and if you put sex or physical attachment on it, relationship will just always find younger alternatives.

i would say the friendship that goes along with the relationship...that way u can be comfortable around the other person, and you can be yourself. you dont have to worry about if they think what you are saying is stupid, or if they think you act too immature...if you're best friends as well as lovers, u can be stupid and immature all day long! and then have sex!
