the transmission shops may miss the AXOD transmission, which they havent used in a number of years. general repair shops may miss the 3.8 head gasket problems, which they havent used that variant of engine for a number of years. and then there is the 3.0 OHV cooling system woes ill never forget, which they cleared up in 2000. none of us will miss the 14 hour book time job to change a heater core in the pre 1996 models. but, i liked the comment the guy made about all fords being junk. its too bad he forgot that if we were to name all the firsts ford has had, we would need both sides of a lot of paper.
i think the taurus did what it was supposed to do. when it first came out, there was nothing on the road out there like it. i think it ushered in a new era of cars, a lot like dodge did for the minivan. they had their problems, but so does every other make have their problems with certain makes and models.
a lot of people out there will never forget the silly plastic clips that hold windows into the track on GM products, or their inferior, factory standard early failure alternators. or dodges wimpy weak little transfer cases that go pop quietly on their pickups or their mitsubishi powered caravan that would lay a james bond-esque smoke screen after 75,000 miles.
i dont think the model 500 is a righteous protege to the taurus, but it will pave the way for better cars to come.

I liked my Taurus, and I miss the generous and comfortable space in the front. That was a 2002 Taurus.

My wife drives a 97 Taurus we inherited from her mom 4 yrs ago. Other than a water pump and brake pads, no probs. Cold Air and Hot heat. Comfortable ride and plenty power. I have a 93 F150 with 262K original miles and everything works. We don't dogg our cars whether it's the Ford's or the Acura's which we also own (Legends). I have been pleasantly surprised by Ford, as I used to vow to never own one (my truck I inherited from my dad 5 years ago). All my vehicles are road ready and next to zero in maintenance costs. Maybe i'm doing something wrong?

all things considered, i know i will. sounds strange coming from a jeep guy, but it was my family's 1990 taurus gl that introduced me to off roading. it had decent clearance for a car, and took us to many remote lakes. we once had to cross a flooded road in it. the water came up the hood and over the roof from our bow wave, the fan chattered in the water, and we drove out the other side. we punished the poor thing far past any reasonable limits for any car. it gave up the ghost cuz we pulled a big trailer too much. the tranny died a number of years ago. now it sits in the field. it was a comfy car too. i liked that car, but i wasn't as keen on the late model ones. either way, i guess i will miss it. we had a taurus wagon too, which we traded in for a cherokee (for obvious reasons). there you have it.

Cool cars for utility use... Yeah the mechanics sometimes love the 90's tauruses for reasons given above.. but I work on them and have driven them as many miles as most owners and they are a pretty good car espcially 2000 and up till end.

I won't miss it because they sold so many of them there will be plenty in the used market for years to come. It was a great car for Ford in terms of sales.

I'm not, they're unreliable cars and they belong in the past, I like the Ford Fusion's alot better.

I won't miss it. I always thought that the Taurus was a lot of bull-crap. (Taurus...bull, get it?)
