It's better to take her immedialtly to the orthopedic doc and ask him for a referral to physiotherapy that will improve her condition...

Don't worry I don't think that it's a harmful or complicated case......

e.g. she may have a muscle cramp or mild strain

It could be sciatica or disc involvement

But, its better to see the doc and take x-ray if needed....

Dont use heat becoz her injury is acute .........that will harm. ......(Just apply cold packs on the lower right back for maximum of 10 - 15 minutes)........ ask her to insert a pillow under the kness while sleeping on her back .........between the knees while sleeping on the side.....

Ask her to PREVENT:
-Movements triggering the pain
-Prolonged sitting
- Prolnged standing
-Overloading & pressue movements & activities
- Heat packs at the moment

i hope that my answer is useful:)
