I think the key will be contrast.

Say if your blood red is red with some purple in it -- getting some green or yellow near it will make that red seem really deep red.

This is an old question, however I have the solution, and its cheap ass hell!! Go over to your local food store and buy Karo syurp( clear ) and red food coloring. Add water for the consistancy and color.
