NOT normal. She could be autistic for starters. Go see a doctor immediately.

Perfectly normal. I am a mother of 3 children and I can tell you that your friends daughter has reached the terrible 2's. The tantrums of kicking and screaming are because, at her age, she wants to communicate but cannot talk as fluently as adults or older children. She is angry that she is either not getting her own way, or cannot explain what she wants properly. All children go through this and if they don't then that is the time to worry. She will eventually grow out of it in a year or two.
I always found it best to ignore tantrums. Most of the time, the children forget why they were crying and screaming in the first place. That is where the 'good as gold' bit comes in.

That is not normal. Could she be constipated and having stomach cramps? Is there a certain time of day that she screams?
My toddler would scream for two hours every day after wakening from her nap. It was not a bad dream. She just got up on the wrong side of the bed. She eventually outgrew it. If I had it to do over again, I think that I would have tried putting her back to bed.

ok does your child by chance attend day care? or perhaps a babysitter while you work? I know I know tis is a terrible thing to say but I have come across many families who have found out that their children have been molested or threatened possibly both while attending these locations and in some cases a familiar person. If this isn't normal for this child and it's all of a suddenly happening. You should inform your friend to have this child checked, for autism/tretts/and molestation. I hate to be ther person to say this but I've seen to many cases come across my desk over these situations. (is there a new person hanging around? Does she start doing this when she sees certain objects? or people?) I dunno hope this helps somewhat

I think it sounds like she gets overwhelmed and lets her steam out. Then she is okay again. I guess you could consider it a way to let out additional energy she doesn't know what to do with.
I wouldn't jump to consider something wrong with her unless she reaches 3 or 4 years old and continues to have this problem.

This doesn't sound normal to me. Toddlers usually scream for a few minutes at a time and then they get tired of it. Oh the terrible twos.

maybe she has a stomach ache or something, you might want to take her to the hospital to see if there is anything wrong that might put her in serious pain for short periods of time.
