I never know how much to tip my hairdresser... I don't want to go too low but my total bill usually comes to about $120. !5% of that would be 18 dollars- which seems like a lot for a tip... what do you think?

When I get my hair CUT, I give her an extra buck. When I get it HIGHLIGHTED, I give her an extra 5 bucks.

I wouldnt tip them as much as you are. Thats WAY too much. Theyre raking in the money, so think about that next time you want to tip them. They are already making good money. They charge too much anyway.

On a $120 bill I would tip $20 if I was satisfied and going to use that hairdresser again--$10-$15 if I wasn't.

I am going to be honest. Considering that I visit my hairdresser every week and her fees are a bit astronomical, I don't tip her unless she creates a challenging style that I am more than pleased with. And then it is only $5-10 dollars.
I generally tip anywhere from 10-15% for good service. If the service was not satisfactory, then the only tip they get is either going to be some advice on a napkin or one red penny.

How great of a job did she do? Tipping is a way of saying thank you. If your hairdo was not too great shoot low if it was worth what you paid then tip her no less than $10-15. If I were a hairstylist, 10-15 would be an awesome tip. Although I put in 6 months of beauty school and they say 15% no matter what if you got good service. (but I think they may have been a bit partical)

I would give her the whole $20 on a $120 bill. She must have spent a lot of time on your hair. If she wasn't with you, she would have gotten that much as a total from the multiple people she could have cut hair for during that time.

perhaps I am concervative but I thin ten is enough. Figure out how long it takes her to do your hair and gear it from that as well as how much work it is etc and that might help your decision. My opinion is if it takes her two hours that is an extra 5 per hour if you tip her ten . Guess it is just a matter of choice.

15% to 20% is the usual cost of a tip. I try to round out the tip, so I would give $20.00

I don't know about hair dressers but a waitress pays 8% taxes on all of her sales so don't think when you leave $2 that she gets $2. Also they tip bus boys and often time cooks, bartenders, and hostesses. With hair dressers I don't know their taxes, but if they do a good job tip well!

that sounds right...if you spent $120, that mean you ordered a lot and the waiter had to service you all that time
