Even though I don't even have a girlfriend yet, I have the dream of being in a long, happy marriage with her. Do you think that's why I don't have a girlfriend? Am I setting my sights too high? Are my expectations too high? (Sometimes my dreams of finding her are also literal dreams I have at night.) If I'm expecting too much, then how are there couples out there who _do_ experience long, happy marriages? How did they find each other? Right now, I'm looking for the woman. I hope that kind of marriage results from our getting together. Any suggestions? Do you think it's romantic and reassuring to hear a man admit to having these thoughts and feelings?

I think it is rare these days to find men like that. You keep looking for her. If it is meant to be you will know when you meet her. Both my husband and I were that way too and we have been married for over 13+ years now and want to spend our lifetime together. Don't be in a riah to get married no matter your age. Make sure you get along well, like her parents, family, and that you have an engagement period. I wish you the best. There is nothing wrong with wanting that. I think that is awesome. I do think it is romantic and reassuring to hear a man say that. My husband said the same thing when we first met and he caught me with that one-hehe.

Admitt to it, but don't go into every relationship you are on telling a girl these thoughts.
Honestly, that would scare the hell out of me if I started dating a guy and he told me that this is what he is looking for. Just have fun! If you just set out to have fun, you will eventually find the right girl. Don't go looking for her. The moment you start looking the moment you will find her. Don't assume you are going to get married to every girl you date, otherwise you will wind up dateless. A girl loves long term relationships, but let her be the one to initiate the whole marriage conversation. That is really unnattractive coming from a guy.

I think most of men are looking forward a long and happy marriage at a certain age..but how to find this one who wants to spend all her life with u? follow your heart...it will show u what ur eyes can't see...she is usually somewhere in your life, dreaming of you and hoping u finally notice her...look again but this time with your heart and i am sure this time u will find her..

i think the reason u don't have a girl is because u dint let Love come 2 if u don't rush it will be when u least expect and right under your nose with marriage a guy who think about long term goals is a guy who know what he wants and that's what women like goal oriented and has motivation to do it its normal to have thoughts that shows you have a thinking process and u review everything that you put your maximum effort into

I think that's wonderful! Women don't want someone who's going to take off on her the next moment a leggy blonde walks by. In women-speak, men are usually the committment phobes. Good for you, man for having integrity.
I happened to accidentally find someone who believes in the exact same philosophy. And we're still happily married!

I love a man like that. Im not intersted in settling down right now because im only 19, but someday In about 4 years I would love to settle down HAPPILY!!!
