I have had some good experiences...I mean after all they are just doing there job...If I didnt fall behind, I would never be getting calls in the 1st place so who else can I blame?

The reason they are mean, and act the way they do, is because you don't know the law, and don't know your rights. As mentioned in a previous answer, once you let them know you understand the law and know how to defend yourself, the will generally leave you alone (ie stop harrassing you and simply proceed with collection work).

Read the Fair Credit Reporting Act below and find out what they are allowed to do.

I had mean collection agencies trying to force me into selling everything I own to settle $30K in medical bills (that were the responsibility of my uninsured motorist car insurance coverage). Be aware of your rights -- the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) says specifically what they may or may not do. Remember, though -- are you completely innocent in this picture?
