I just saw this question. I have had two danes and neither lost teeth from them being raw or bleeding. You need to get him to a VET NOW. He probably has a gum infection or at the least has been chewing on some porous wood that may have chips in his gums. Please have him checked. Danes are very sensitive. Mine are fawn danes...what is yours?
Please let me know what comes of this...I am truly concerned.
Note: You would not put Orajel on a bleeding gum...that is one of the cautions on the package.

When our shepard pup went throught this we took an old wash cloth and soaked it in water and tossed it in the freezer until frozen. Buddy loved it, you may need 2 wash cloths so you can have one in the freezer ready for when the other one melts.

We woke up to 4" of snow here this morning too!

Give him lots of things to chew on. I prefer stuffed animals as compared to rawhide as the toy will not be so abusive on the rest of his gums. They will fall out on their own. You could also give him half a baby aspirin if it seems he's in pain with it. It will not poison your dog to have a half of one every now and then.

I don't see why you couldn't go in the chemist/pharmacy and ask for baby teething gel.
If it's O.K. for babies ,it can't hurt your dog!
Good luck

PS Check with your vet: they will know for sure!

CALL YOUR VET AND ASK IF YOU CAN USE ORAJEL. THE OLDER FOLKS SWEAR BY WHISKEY, BUT I WOULD THINK ORAJEL IS SAFER.
