The two most common reasons for this are: some kind of intestinal problem or upset, or some type of deficiency in his diet. Dogs have been known to arbitrarily ingest really "gross" items that smell good to them, but an ongoing situation like yours indicates a potential issue. I'd schedule a visit to the vet to have him checked out. (and avoid any sloppy kisses from Fido for a while- ugh!) Good Luck.

Ok, LOL I know this is going to sound gross but it totally depends on what kind of poo he's snacking on if it's another dog's (or another animals) he could need some kind of vitamins or minerals that that dog/animal has so try other dog food brands!
But if he is eating his own crap I have no idea all i can tell you is to feed him more!!!!
PS:May the force be with you! LOL hope he's an outside dog! God Bless!!!

There are a few different theories on "why". From "something missing in the diet... to keeping clean" Like I said, theories.
They do have a few different products on the market you can add to your dogs diet that make the poo "yucky" and will stop the dog from eating it.

My vet tech said to give him a treat of about an inch of BLACK licorice. It evidently make the poop taste bad. (I have too many dogs, and neighbor cats, that I gave up. Maybe it will work for you.)

In my experience he is probably protein deprived due to the lack of sufficient protein in his food. Add some cooked chicken livers to his food and he should stop eating poo.
