3 days ago my lymph nodes in my neck started hurting and are now so swollen I look like a chip monk. I've done my research and know why they are doing this but is there any way to make the swelling go down?

Youve said uve been sick for a month on and off,but then u say ur lympnodes in the neck started swelling only 3days ago.Does the swelling come and go?.
LYMPH NODE swelling is most of the time caused by "infections"and the causes are many including mononucleosis, German measles (rubella), tuberculosis, mumps, ear infection, tonsillitis, an abscessed or impacted tooth, gingivitis (swelling of the gums), mouth sores, and sexually transmitted diseases.
well, all this information is for your knowledge, but if u wanna feel better, going to a doctor is a must as other physical examination and history is vital to diagnose you.dont be hesitant for,it could be something worse.Iam a med student and thaz my humble advice.
Hope u get better.

I could give you a "sounds like"... and add Mumps! but I may be wrong. Your node are swollen for a reason, they're infected to start with, it's an under laying problem that needs attention, see your local doc asap or go to the ER and show them.
I would guess they're going to run some tests and then give you a series of antibiotics. Don't let this go my friend.

See a doctor and ask him to refer you to physiotherapy unit
coz these are the best specialists to help in this field

There might be something else not the condition you are supposing....... coz a lot of symptoms & conditions overlap to mediacl & health professionals thierselves

e.g. you might have myofascial pain syndrome!

Apply ice packs to the area but not for (more than 10 minutes) frequently.

I hope that my answer is useful:)

I get this because of my low immune system. Try to identify and fix the underlying problem: a bad cold/flu? stress? These can be factors.

You will probably need antibiotics.

i get that too. i have found what helps me is the general- drink clear liquids (water, oj)... and take more vitamins, i find that im less suseptical to getting the re-accuring colds when i actually take vitamins and drink a lot of water. ^_^ if it continues, i would definately see a doctor. good luck

You need to take an anti-inflatory drug (mortin, advil, etc). Ice pack and plenty of fluids. It's good you know the reason.

Have you seen a doc? If not, you should do that. Ask them. That could be anything from just a sore throat to cancer.
