No. You should take him to the vet. Don't take the chance of hurting him. He wouldn't hurt you.

yes, you can give medicine. you may try saline solution to wash out the eyes but good luck getting them sto stay still for the drops.

also, if it is allergie related, which if he gets once a year, then it most likely is, you can go to any local pharmacy or food mart and pick up some benadryl CHILDRENS allergy relief. nothing for itchy eyes specifically. just plain old childrens allergy relief benadryl.

i'd suggest the quick dissolvingchewable tablets. dogs REALLY don't like the liquid though it can be easier if you do it fast. depending on how big the dog is, you can easily give a15 lb. dog 1 whole tablet a day.

though i would consult your vet before doing this. only yourvet knows your dogs health condition and whether or not it would be okay for them.

I'm 19 and allergic to all animals, dust mites, grasses and all that kind of stuff, I suffer from eczema and asthma also. I really wish that my mum had of got me allergy tested young so that I didn't have to suffer through swollen eye's and allergies not knowing what caused it. (We live on a farm) I would really recomend that you go get an allergy test, just so you can be sure of his allergys so you can prevent them in the future. If the dog is inside I would recomend keeping it outside and away from your son. Also get him checked for asthma and also eczema which are both linked to allergies also. There is really no treatment that is better than keeping him away from the source of the allergy. But other things that will calm the allergy would bice packsks to the swelling and antihistamines.

I wouldn't do that unless I called the vet and asked about it first. Even if other people have done it successfully, you never know how yours will react to different medications. Ask the vet for the right dosage if he says you can give it to him. I know my dog has been on allergy meds from the vet before but I don't remember what it was.

Yes you can give your dog ppl allergy eye drops, but it doesn't allways work! I strongly suggest taking your dog to a vet to make sure that he doesn't need other allergy medicine and to all so make sure that he doesn't have other allergies! Believe me talk about allergies i just had to take my dog to the vet for b/c the poor guy's allergies got so bad that he could barley see through all the goop in his eyes!!! Any ways just see what your vet has to say about your dog and his allergies if you haven't allready done so!!!

I hope I was a help have a good day and God Bless!!!

My dog has bad allergies and my vet prescribes over the counter benedryl for him. He takes one pill a day when his allergies is acting up. He weighs around 25lbs. I would talk to your vet about the specific dosage for your dog ,but my vet has tried everything and benedryl seems to be the only thing that works for my dog.

My cat actually has bad allergies - his eyes hurt bother him something terrible. I give him eye medicine whenever he needs it - maybe three or four times a year; it doesn't seem to hurt him and his eyes look and probably feel a lot better, too!

No! Get him to the vet so he or she can get you the animal version of allergy drops. Animals should not take any kind of people meds unless specifically okayed by the vet.

well...if he gets this once a year then it must not be too bad. but just in case, don't give him anything and take him to the vets office. and remember, it may be something and it may be nothing.
