I quit this year. I started smoking at 19. I worked at a drive through convenient store and just picked up the habit. I smoked for 14 years until I got really sick this year with Asthma. My kids were really afraid that I might die. I almost did. With the pollutants in the air and with society staying in doors more and more it is already hard to breath. add smoking and it is just going to be worse. I understand why you smoke. I miss it. But you really should quit before it's too late. Good luck.

I started to fit in with the "cool" people, this was 23 years ago and I sure am addicted! I have tried to quit many times. I smoke a pack a day on normal days, more if I am driving a lot or just sitting around lounging. If I am busy or working I don't smoke as much

I am 46, and have smoked for 30 years. It was peer pressure that got me started, (it did look cool, didn't it?), mostly, but environmental factors apply, too: family members smoked in the house. I have quit for long periods twice, but restarted at one social function or another. I remember when I started a pack cost 45cents. Now it's near $5.00 for the same pack! I want to quit again, but it is so difficult to do. I smoke slightly less than a pack a day.

Yes, I've already smoked a 1/2 pack today and it's only 2PM. I started because I thought it made me look older and now the habit is 40 years old.

I'm sure there are lots of people here who smoke, but I'm not one of them. I have never had the desire to smoke. I find it funny that anyone would even want to smoke. We are all told that is not healthy and very addictive, yet people choose to smoke often for the same reason you did. They think it looks cool or they smoke because their friends smoke. My grandma got lung cancer from smoking. Cancer certainly isn't cool and her friends didn't join her with that.

I am smoke free now for 10 months. I used to smoke 2 packs a day. Trust me. QUIT NOW. I used the patch. I thought I would start smoking to lose weight. Didn't work. Dumb idea. Dumb thing to do. Cigs contain arsenic, nicotine, and poisoness chemicals. QUIT.
