It depends on your culture and where you are from. In some countries like Canada, supper means dinner, they eat normal size meals at what we would call dinner time.
Just depends on your family and their traditions or backgrounds.

Not much, it's a matter of semantics. However, the word "dinner" can also refer to lunch or a meal taken in the afternoon, whereas "Supper" connotes a late dining experience ( you've heard of "supper clubs"). Bon appetit.

Techincally dinner is any meal (you dine) commonly dinner is another word for lunch, supper is the evening meal. If you think that's confusing add a few more languages. I speak English, French, Latin and Japanese and am currently adding Mandarin Chinese

In earlier times, "dinner" was your big meal and was eaten at the same time that we call "lunch" today.
"Supper" was a lighter meal eaten at the end of the day, at the same time we now call "dinner".

depends on where you grew up........in some places dinner is acutally lunch while supper is what most people know as dinner...I grew up in a place like that and know confuse the crap out of my kids lol

my grandma said
breakfast, dinner and supper.
now people say
breakfast, lunch and dinner.
it was an older way of saying lunch.
