Seriously. This is where most everyone is, so...

I have tix to see the #1 team in the country today, but my biatch of a boss scheduled me even though she knows I have season tix. I think she is upset b/c my gf told her off and quit the same job (at a pretty nice restaurant, where we met) and I think the boss now assumes I had something to do w/ it. I only supported my gf's decision. I requested the day off more than 2 mos ago and am the only one in the request book not to get the night off. What would you do? Remember, I would start out $60 in the hole (tix price) if I go in.

Well, as a former restaurant manager - everything matters.

This is poor management at it's finest and you're being punished for your g/fs actions.

What would I do - I'd go in to work like it doesn't matter...the tix can be sold...or you can at least say they were sold...
and I'd act like I was happy about the whole event.
I'd try to have an outstanding evening - kill her with your contentment.

Or

You can dig in, stand for principle, and probably get yourself fired for not showing up to work.

Good luck - make the right choice for you.

Call your boss asap and let her know that you are not feeling well and ask for some phone numbers to try and cover your shift.

I'm sure that you've already asked everyone to cover for you, so then call your boss back and let her know that you have tried everything.

Go to a local health clinic and tell the Dr. you are having flu like symptoms, get a note and enjoy the game.

I know that you'll have to pay for the Dr. visit but she can not terminate you if you go to the Dr.

Go Buckeyes!

The answer to your question lies in whether you want to keep your job or not. Your boss probably wants you to go to the game, so she has grounds to fire you because of the prior issues. And if she is out to get you anyway, you might as well go to the game and get it over with now. Call in sick first tho, so she has no real grounds to fire you. First thing tomorrow morning, look for another job.
