seriously it is not easy to learn to become more evolved/enlightened .
it takes a discipline and a desire to work towards the truth .
it begins with learning to think right and practice what is right and rightous .
no one is free from suffering on this earth plane,it is all about lessons and the desire to make something of yourself ,it is not simply to be good,,, but good for something .only through self evaluation and working with dreams ,meditation and learning tolerance and patience will any sort of peace come to you from within .it is a lifelong ethic and desire ,the mind is the maker and what you think in your mind manifest over time so if you continually struggle and think negative then this is what you will manifest .......thinking positive and working on your own issues and TRYING is rightous and makes one become enlightened over time .
anyway there are many many books that can help you work towards a goal of enlightment .

If you desire enlightenment then you shall never attain it. Enlightentment is freedom from desire.
If your life is a mess, then it is up to you to resolve your problems and make your life better. Seek all the help you need, but be very wary of anyone who says Jesus or the Bible are the answer to all of your problems.
You may not achieve enlightenment in your lifetime, in fact its very unlikely, but is never the less something that you can strive towards.

You know the basics. Desire is the root cause of suffering-desire can be overcome-suffering can be ended. Start by adhering to the moral precepts of the Buddha-karma will guide you after that if enlightenment is what you really desire.

Everyone talks about Buddhist teachings and philosophy. Buddhism is not about what you know, and definitely not about following Buddhist rules.
Buddhism is about being unattached to anything in your life, including Buddhism.
THE ONLY ESSENTIAL THING TO DO IS ZAZEN.
