I came in contact with my friend who might have it. I was only around her for about 5 minutes, and I did not have any contact with her at all. But I have never had the chicken pox before so I am worried. Please help!

My friend is sick with a head cold now, and she has a fever. She has had the chikcen pox before (2 times).

You might, but there really is nothing to worry about. There are shots that you can take now to not contract it, I hear they give them to little kids now, its required to go to kindergarden i think. But if you do get it, its really not that bad, I had it when I was 5, and its only temporary. But its important to not scratch them until they bleed because they will scar, and I know a girl who had chicken pox the same time i did, and has really bad scars to the point of embarrasement. Good luck though and don't worry to hard!

5 minutes is short contact. Perhaps you had a sub-clinical infection as a child.i.e. you were exposed to it, but you made antibodies to it and did not get the disease. Those antibodies may stil be persisting and will protect you. On the other hand, you may not be having antibodies and will get it. The incubation period is 14 to 21 days. Hope for the best. Good Luck!

it depends on what stage of the illness she is in...if she had a fever or any open sores then yes you can get it....even if you just touched something that she did.....if she doesnt have the sores yet and wasnt running a fever...or if the sores were scabed over and she hasnt been scratching them then you should be ok....
