In the end "YES" it will be worth it. With Saddam over thrown Iraq may be in a civil war now. But once the dust has settled it will be a better situation than before. Questions like yours are always ask in the darkest hour.
Was the early Americans revolting against England in 1775 worth it at the time? The Americans almost suffered complete economic ruin. Many families starved to death. But now?
Were the losses during the Normandy invasion worth it? Maybe not at the moment but now?

I think that the war in Iraq is worth it. I have been to the Middle East, and Saddam was a threat to the stability of the whole region. Much like Iran is now. Saddam is a butcher, and deserves his fate. The people in Iraq, are grateful for what we are doing and have done for them. We are building schools, and reestablishing their infrastructure. We are doing great things in Iraq which you will never hear about on the news. It was worth it. Our soldiers are doing a great job.
We cannot and must not leave until the job is done. We must stay the course. If we leave before the job is done, it will create a huge power vacuum, and open the door to the very terrorists we are fighting to take control. We must not lose.

Read the account of France's participation in World War II.
If you give a terrorist an inch...He'll invade and occupy your country! If we do not stand up for our selves, we become an easy target. 911 can happen again and again! We are a welcoming country and we have hostile people living right here within our borders. It's not hard to wage an attack on a country you all ready live in. No war is a good thing. But I promise you, you will really dislike the alternative when you are being forced to speak Arabic.

I do!
For a variety of reasons:
It's keeping terrorist members, money, efforts, and attention tied up on THEIR side rather than giving them the breathing room to figure out how to kill us on OUR side again.
Other than our war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Middle East in general has been quieter then ever because we have a big military presence over there.
It is seasoning our military. We now have a whole new generation of sergeants and officers who will have combat experience. That helps to make our military forces stronger than those of others.
It's helping us to shake out a lot of our military technology - new weapons systems, new equipment, and more. The performance of our military armament will be much improved as a result.
Oil does matter. One of the quickest ways for the US to begin to lose its dominant position in the world is to have our steady oil supply undercut in some way. While I wish we would take more advantage of our resources over here, we must ensure that we have access to the supply in the Middle East.
In the big picture of history, this is still a small war. It does not compare to the conflagrations of WW2 or WW1, for example. So while the human cost of any war is terrible and can be counted individual by individual and family by family (on both sides, of course) it's the nature of war. It would be worse to be seen as a military wimp and let other nations try to take advantage of us.
If we withdraw from this war without winning it can be disastrous for us. It will be two wars in a row that we have lost, and both for essentially the same two reasons: 1) the weak will of the American people to sustain a war, and 2) the unwillingness to go all the way to overwhelm the enemy and decisively defeat them. With that record of having lost our spine and will since WW2 and knowing that we can be picked on, we will be hammered in later years by terrorists and more.

I would have to say yes. to say no would be to say that i regret my husband being gone for a year and like that year was a waste of his time.... He still isn't home -- it will be a another month or so before he's home -- and he left when our daughter was just four days old. I think its something necessary that needs to happen... and im comforatable with it -- although it sucks -- not to be blunt.
