I just got a cold sore yesterday I felt it coming on & all I had was, smacker's lipgloss. well you can't see it because i have pretty big lips and its right under my lips so if i do a kissy face than you'll see it but if I don't than you won't. I really want it to go away. What's some home made remidies that you know of? I'm not trying to spend 20 bucks on aberva !

You don't have to spend 20 bucks on aberva go to your local Walgreens or Osco they have their knock off brand ointments for cold sores under 7 bucks and they work. I would avoid using lipstick or lipgloss for now if the sore is open you can spread it from the corner it is in to the other side or anywhere around the lips.

Are you sure it's a cold sore? The reason I ask is because to me, a "kissy face" would reveal the inside of your mouth rather than a new part of the outside. Cold sores do not appear on the soft tissue inside your mouth. However, if its red, and is still on your lip it probably is a cold sore.

According to the Mayo Clinic website there's little you can do to lessen the duration of a cold sore beyond getting prescribed anti-viral medication.

Also, I'm sure you know this, but in case you don't I'll say it anyways. Be very careful about who you kiss and when you kiss them, ESPECIALLY if its hard to see your cold sores. They are transmittable, and you really don't want to give cold sores to some one you want to kiss.

Propolis cream is very good. Rub in a little and often when the slightest tingling starts. Not only will it occasionally stop the cold sore appearing, it can also decrease the time you have it. Also when used regularly the cold sore does not come back so often.

Abreva is expensive but the only over the counter that works to shorten the duration. If you shop around I've seen it about 12 bucks. For the future for some odd reason taking Lysine (sp?)seems to keep them away or make them less severe.

wait it out. any ointments or creams will eleviate symptoms. but wont make it go away any faster. it wil be there for about a week.
Try not to mess with it as it can spread. And for Gods sake dont give anyone oral sex!
