hope you got a usb port scanner as it is easier to install than parallel port scanner.
if it is an usb port scanner, get ready the scanner driver cdrom and just plug in the usb cable to the usb port on your pc after the windows start up and then follow the instructions to install the driver if any.

Comp. on, connection wire plugged in, power scanner on...it should be recognized by windows XP...and you are hooked up.
