I am really worried about the side effects of taking an SSRI, so I am considerng taking only 2.5mg of Lexapro. Has anyone had any problems at this dosage? I will be taking this medication for anxiety.

What dosage does your Dr. recommend or are you self-medicating? The usual dose of Lexapro is 10mg once a day and can be cut back to 5 mg as long as it is effective in treating your symptoms. 2.5 mg sounds like a really low dose and may not be effective. As for side effects, wait and see if you have any and how bad they are - then adjust dosage. Sometimes the side effects diminish. If you haven't done so please talk to your Dr. about this OK? I took Lexapro for a short time and found the side effects intolerable and decided I could cope with my depression and anxiety with different methods.

I have taken 10mgs a day for almost three yrs. It has helped me tremndously with my anxiety and panic disorder. Taking 2.5 seems slightly low. Try taking half of a 10 first...see how it works.
Of course you should listen to your doctor...but you know your body and mind more than anyone.
I had no real side effects while taking it. Its different for different people. Try it your Docs way first...if it doesnt work or it makes you feel icky...go back to your doc and try something else.
But be aware...the side effects can happen when you stop taking them as well as when you first start. Talk to your Doc about that too.

I do not see why no longer. Just speak for your medical professional approximately your stories and spot what he says. I was once on Lamictal for a even as. I hated the ones huge sour tablets. If he is a well medical professional, he must be inclined to paintings with you to find the correct combo.
