How do I get cat urine smell off a rug?

Mix some vinegar and water in a spray bottle,spray the area and sponge it up. Repeat until smell is gone. The vinegar neutralizes the odor. It really works!!!

1. Have a professional rug cleaning service clean the rug,
2. Hang the rug outside to air out.
3. Housebreak the cat, or get rid of it. :-)

GET THE CAT FIXED ASAP-
BUT GET A BLACK LITE AND ENZYME CLEANER -- AT NIGHT USE THE BLACK LITE BY HOLDING IT 6 INCHES AWAY FROM THE RUG IF THERE IS URINE IT WILL GLOW, SPRAY IT VERY GOOD BECAUSE CAT URINE WILL SOAK THROUGH THE RUG & PADDING & EVEN GET ON THE FLOOR BENEATH- DO THIS PROCEDURE FOR 2 DAYS @ NIGHT ONLY & THE SMELL WILL FADE AWAY-

You dont. Pull it up, bleach the floor underneath, put an odor cover kilz over it (home depot) let it dry good, lay new carpeting, spray all the corners with a urine repellent (any pet store) and keep the litter box very very very clean!!!!!!

Is it a throw rug? Take it to a laundromat and use Oxyclean.
If it's carpet, you'll have to rip up the carpet and replace the padding underneath and put new carpet down.

Try frezze , it comes in a pet oder and it will get the smell out and it smells nice. And if you want to get the stain out try ''Awsome spray .'' And get a srucb brush and brush it out. Hope this helps.

unless it is worth a real lot i would chuck it!
it needs to be shampooed and steam cleaned then left in the sun. once its dry you will need to do it twice more.
Also add an agent called "nil odour" this can be bought from any drug store or chemist.
