If you have a name of a dish that I can Google, then great. If you have the recipe, that's great too. Whatever ideas you have would be great.

My kids love hashbrown bake and its really easy! take a bag of hash browns put in a bowl, add chopped ham or bacon or sausages, then sneak in some very finely chopped carrots, onion and cauliflower (for nutrition) add about 1 cup cheese sauce and 1 carton sour cream (16 oz) add about 1/2 cup milk and mix well. Put into a well greased casserole dish, cover and bake at 400 for about 30 min, uncover and top with shredded chedder, return to oven until cheese melts and is bubbly.
(they will never notice the veggies)

Pasta with sauce. That includes a large variety of dishes Sandwiches That includes a huge variety of food Soup or stew(they are essentially the same thing; one has more liquid) Salad and home-made dressing Roast chicken and the vegetables to go with it. Knowing how to cook rice and fry an egg would be very handy. If they can cook all of those things competently and preferably from scratch, they know enough to feed themselves fairly well and they know enough cooking techniques to follow a lot of recipes successfully. It's also a big help if they know their way around a grocery store and how to shop for real food at good prices. I see a lot of questions here from teens who have plainly never been in a grocery store. I did most of the family grocery shopping starting at age 12. Mom gave me a list and a budget and it was up to me to make sure I came back with enough food to get us through the week except for bread and milk. It was an excellent education.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://bitly.im/aMm7g

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

My kids really enjoy making their own pizzas. I buy the pre-made dough from the dairy isle and different ingredients for them to choose from. They enjoy doing it all by their selves.

Also they like making chicken fingers. Cut up chicken breast or tenders into bit size pieces and bread them in seasoned flour and then into an egg and milk mixture and then into corn flakes that have been crushed. Bake in the oven 375 for about 20 minutes or until done. I saw the recipe on 30 minute meals on the food network Rachel Ray called them chicken toes. We tried that recipe too. The kids loved them.

Well it is hard to say with kids - because some can be finicky eaters and others like lots of things. One of my girls is very finicky - but she likes things like steak, chicken, spaghetti with meat sauce, tacos, chili, pot roast, Swedish meatballs, green beans, salad, spinach (sauteed with a beaten egg, garlic, Parmesan cheese added - this is the only way she will eat it), tomatoes, potatoes and broccoli and fruit. That is about it on what she will eat.

If they are picky - stick with basic things that they like.

Chicken tenders breaded in Italian breadcrumbs and baked seems to go over well with kids.
mashed potatoes
broccoli with and offering of a cheese sauce (cheese sauce goes over well with kids)

Chicken's always great with kids... try this one, CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS, and have a side of mashed potatoes, or fries

* 6 boneless chicken thighs
* 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of celery soup
* salt and pepper to taste
* 1 (12 ounce) package refrigerated biscuit dough

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large pot over high heat, combine the chicken with enough water to cover, and boil for 15 to 20 minutes. Drain some of the water from the pot, reserving 3 cups in the pot. Remove chicken and allow it to cool, then pull it apart into bite size pieces; return to pot.
2. Reduce heat to medium, and add the cans of condensed soup. Season with salt and pepper. Pull the biscuit dough into pieces, and add to the soup. Simmer over medium heat for 7 to 8 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through.

OR:

CHICKEN POT PIE

INGREDIENTS

* 1 recipe pastry for a (10 inch) double crust pie
* 4 boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and diced
* 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
* 3 (15 ounce) cans mixed vegetables, drained

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C). Fit bottom pastry into a 10 inch pie plate.
2. In a large bowl, combine chicken, soup, and vegetables. Mix well and pour into crust. Cover with top pastry. Seal edges and cut steam vents in top.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, until crust is golden brown.

Look in your grocery flyers for specials on meats, etc.. Chicken on sale at 60 cents a pound-stock up! freeze some.
Easy to season and bake a whole chicken at 350 for about 1.5 hours, make a quick rice or potatoes and a veggie and/or salad. Grill meats-make it fun year-round!

Rachel Ray's cooking show is one of the best for quick as well as relatively inexpensive dinner ideas. The less processed the food is, the better for you and your family.
Casseroles are easy, and stretch the food dollar. One pot chilis, fried rice, hearty soups and sandwiches...
