We know of someone who says he has so many pins in his body due to multiple injuries that now everytime he travels he carries med cert to say he has pins so they know what the beeping is. Then we met some doctor friends who say thats a little unsual as usually they use pins made of titanium, which is not picked up by the metal detector...

If they're titanium then usually no, however the three stainless steel pins in my shoulder do set off the airport alarms.

The old metal detectors used to be set off by my glasses so I can imagine anything would set them off. These days my piercings don't set them off & they're titanium

yeah, my friend has pins and what not in his arm, he has never had a problem with the detectors going off....
