licking your lips only makes them worse
Maybe you could try to find a good lip balm. Sometimes chapstick makes my lips worse too.
Plain 'ol petroleum jelly works very good.

If you've turned your heat on, you probably notice your lips (and skin) getting drier and drier. Try running a humidifier and that will put some moisture back into the air. Vaseline amkes a lip moisturizer that works very well and feel silky for hours. Also, make sure you are drinking lots of water so your whole body will stay hydrated.

This may sound gross but it works for me.

I use Vaseline. Just a little bit at a time. Several times a day. It keeps them soft all year round and I live in a cold climate.

At least my husband likes to kiss me at least once a day and he does not complain that my lips are dry. And besides me he should know best. lol

There are specialised ointments for this but I suppose Vaseline works and piercing some vitamin E pills (the 400mg works fine) and applying evenly helps a lot.
Keep yourself hydrated.

MARY KAY SATIN LIPS WORKS GREAT-
1ST YOU RUB THE EXFOLIANT ON YOUR LIPS FOR 1 MINUTE TO REMOVE ANY LOOSE SKIN THAN WIPE CLEAN, THAN APPLY THE SATIN MOISTURIZER, IT EMBEDS DEEP DOWN IN THE CRACKS OF YOUR SKIN & HEALS FROM THE INSIDE OUT-
OTHER THAN THAT CHAPSTICKS DONT WORK-
AT NIGHT TIME PUT SOME PETROLIUM JELLY ON 2 BAND AIDS AND APPLY TO LIPS OVER NIGHT 1 ON TOP AND 1 ON BOTTOM LIPS

I love Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment. It's in a small, round, peach-colored tin, and I usually get mine at CVS (you can probably find it at any pharmacy store). Apply it a few times a day, and you will notice results immediately.
