Go in and explain to your barber how you would like it to look. Or try browsing a few magazines until you find a style you like and take the pix in with you. Generally young guys that want a short and neat haircut ask for a "fade" with it a little long on top or if you would like it really short ask for a "high n tide" - it's like the military cuts.

Erm I cant give you advice in the line of nothingb fancy or pretty cheap..but if you wanna forget all that..which is the better option..then find your nearest Tony&Guy. Look for a guy called Salek or Frederic(pronounced the french way) and ask for the all round Ultra-Modern-DKNY-scrubbed Model look-which may involve colour changing of your hair and probably be shorter than your long hair. Results vary according to the stylers (never call them barbers at Toni&Guy.they'll just die in a haze of overpriced blowdriers) and what they evaluate your peronalised style to be..so just sit back..enjoy the caramellised mochiato and enjoy!!!

Do not mention the word "cheap" in the Barber's Shop.
If your happy with the way your hair looked while doing it at home, then say "keep it the same, just shorter please". Don't forget to "tip" the cutter for a good job done.
Short hair on muscular build
Long hair on skinny build
Which are You?

When you get to the barber shop, they should have some books for you to look through. Don't be afraid to go to a beauty shop, either. Women give fantastic haircuts and make men look awesome!!

if you pay a bit extra and go to a professional hairdresser they will be able to give you valuable advice on what would suit your head shape, personality etc. don't go to a barber if you want this advice though, usually you just get the bog standard cut which is usually shorter than what you asked for.

Just ask for a mullet. The correct pronunciation is moo-lay. Tell the bloke you want one like Pat Sharp. He'll know what you mean. It's a proper do that'll suit everyone. I've had one for yonks.

grow the back out into a kind of mullet but separate it so it comes out at the sides. on the top just ask to get it trimmed, not cut, mess about with the style on top until you find one that agrees with your facial features (use wax) and keep a short fringe drifting to the side slightly.
you'll look legendary

A man should either have very long hair, or none at all, everything in between looks naff.
