Depends on how much. Maybe they don't have it to repay, or maybe they are just mean. If you can let them keep it I say, but remind them that you are doing them a favour and I’m sure they will appreciate it. Don't 'lend' any again, it's not worth the stress. I just help people out from time to time if I can as friendship and compassion is much more important. "Giving is receiving" as they say.

That's a touchy situation. You shouldn't have to remind them at all. If they haven't paid by now, chances are they aren't going to. Then you just have to chalk that lesson up to experience. Never lend again. To anyone. Only causes hard feelings. But just come out and ask that person if he has the money to pay you.

NEVER lend money you can't afford to lose. I'd just be blunt & say "I lent you [this much] [this long ago] & I was wondering when you were going to pay me back as we agreed you would" then if they get narky I'd suggest that you don't want this to be taken further by some scary people you know.

Somebody at work forgot his credit cards just before a posh professional dinner and he borrowed from everyone in the office.
A few days later I casually asked him if he'd found his cards yet. He got the picture!

Say, "So when will it be convenient for you to return the money you borrowed from me?, I am in a tight spot now and you will be doing me a great favor if you can return the money".
